Author Michelle Cushing Michelle Cushing is the contemporary, literary Southern writer of the novels From a Vine (2007), Faith Orion’s Field (2008), and Rosabelle, believe (2010), all published by Mulberry Bark. If you mixed the lyrical style of Tennessee Williams with the down home characters of a Eudora Welty novel with Michelle Cushing's unique blend of magic and wit, you get character-driven stories steeped in romance, mysticism, and symbolism. After receiving a degree from the prestigious journalism department of the University of Arkansas and graduating magna cum laude, she published several articles and began collaborating on screenplays with her sister, writer/director Christie XT Cushing (The Mask of Aubrey Clover). Michelle co-produced and starred in the 2010 Cannes Film Festival “Short Film Corner” Official Selection, Scars at the Spook House. She is part Cherokee and a distant relative to both Peter Cushing and John Wayne. She enjoys spending time with her dogs, reading great fiction, and a good glass of ice tea. Her heroes include Harry Houdini, Michael Jackson, and Richard Bach. Read an interview with the author. Visit the author's blog. |
